Does my business need a website if I have Instagram?

· 5 min read

Instagram is good for showing your work. But when someone looks for you for the first time, they usually start on Google.

Your Instagram profile isn’t yours

Your profile depends on one company’s rules. An algorithm change can cut the number of people who see your posts overnight, and an account can be restricted without warning. Your website and domain belong to you.

Clients look for you on Google

When someone needs a dentist or a car service in their city, they type it into search. Instagram profiles rarely appear in those results. A website with good SEO can appear near the top.

A website answers questions before clients ask them

Opening hours, address, services, prices, parking. On Instagram, this information is scattered across posts and stories. On a website, it is in one place and easy to find.

What clients expect to find on a website:

A list of services and typical prices
An address with a map, and opening hours
Phone and Viber in one tap
A way to book an appointment themselves

It’s best to have both: Instagram to show your work, and a website so new clients can find you and book.

Booking without back-and-forth messages

If clients book by message, every appointment takes several replies. An online booking system on your website shows free slots, and clients choose on their own, at any time of day.

The short answer

Yes. Instagram is a good addition, but it doesn’t replace a website. A website is a place that’s yours, that Google shows, and where clients can book straight away.
